White Springs has a tower that can turn the Suwannee River country into a concert hall. The 200-foot campanile at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park contains 97 tubular bells weighing a combined 27 tons. Florida State Parks calls it the world's largest tubular-bell carillon. Installed as a tribute to the composer of Florida's state song, the instrument gives this quiet north Florida landscape a soundtrack far grander than its population might suggest.

Jasper is the Hamilton County seat and the center for government, schools and local business. Jennings lies near the Georgia line, and White Springs sits beside the Suwannee at the county's southern edge. Bellville and Genoa are smaller unincorporated communities. Interstate 75 passes through the county, but much of the land remains rural, with pine forest, farms, wetlands and phosphate-mining areas. The Alapaha and Withlacoochee rivers join the Suwannee system around the county's boundaries.
